Broadcast & Professional Camera Systems

Broadcast & Professional Camera System Division manufactures studio and outside broadcast cameras and control equipment for television companies throughout the world. Sony UK Technology Centre is the only Sony broadcast camera factory outside of Japan. Since the division’s introduction to Pencoed in 2001, Sony UK Technology Centre has manufactured both Standard Definition and top of the range High Definition systems to the world’s leading broadcasters.

Always at the cutting edge of technology, the Professional Camera System Division has manufactured wireless video capture streaming for use in outside events such as the Tour de France and Super-motion video systems for test match cricket. Manufacturing within the division is controlled by ‘Alchemy’, which is a state of the art manufacturing control system designed and developed by our own in-house engineers.

Camera Division has had third party certification of its Quality Management System since 2000 and were among the first companies in Wales to achieve the new improved International Standard ISO9001:2000 in 2003.

The company's commitment to the environment is demonstrated by its certification to ISO14001 Environmental Management System Standard, which was achieved in 2000.

2005 was the first year that the Broadcast and Professional System Camera Products Division entered the Wales Quality Award. Having already achieved so much in terms of our systems for quality, environment and people development, we look to the Excellence model to help us focus more strongly on our "End Customers". 

In 2005, we used the Excellence Model as a framework to our strategic planning and review process. We have found that the Excellence Model is compatible with our whole operation and systems such as ISO9001:2000, and has helped us to focus on our internal and external performance measures.

Our primary business role is to be a high quality, highly flexible manufacturer giving customer satisfaction. Therefore, the Excellence Model can provide a critical analysis of our true Customer performance.

Sony UK Technology Centre Awarded “Outstanding Business Support Award” from Professional Solutions Europe

This year, Sony UK Technology Centre Camera Business Division saw our European Manufacturing Centre successfully increase production of the HD and DXC Camera products, as well as expand manufacturing with new production lines for the XDCAM camcorders and configuration of Digital Cinema Systems.

For our contribution to Sony Professional Solutions Europe’s ( PSE ) business success, our courage and contagious energy to achieve success, we were awarded the “Outstanding Business Support Award “ by Naomi Climer the Vice President of Sony PSE.

Beyond this success, we witnessed the true spirit of our company to meet our customers requirements.
